Billboard has released its long-awaited list of the Top 50 Greatest Afrobeats Songs of All Time, and sitting proudly at No.1 is 2Face Idibia’s evergreen classic “African Queen.”
African Queen was released in 2004.
The song is not only one of the most recognisable Afrobeats songs worldwide but also a track that opened global doors for Nigerian music.

Also, its placement at the very top reaffirms its legendary status.
Taking the No.2 spot is Wizkid’s “Ojuelegba,” a soulful anthem that narrates the struggles and dreams of a Lagos hustler.
However, Wizkid also shines again at No.5 with his globally acclaimed “Essence” featuring Tems.
The Afrobeats Songs
This makes him the only artiste with two entries in the Top 10.
At No.3, Billboard ranks Favour’s “Nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix),” a record that became a cultural phenomenon across Nigeria and Africa.
Following closely is Rema’s “Calm Down” at No.4, and At No.6 comes CKay’s “Love Nwantiti,”
The rest of the Top 10 features other historic tracks: Burna Boy’s “Ye” at No.7, Davido’s “Fall” at No.8, D’banj’s “Oliver Twist” at No.9, and Mr Eazi’s “Skin Tight” featuring Efya rounding it out at No.10.
Moving beyond the Top 10, Styl-Plus’ “Olufunmi” takes No.11, 9ice’s “Gongo Aso” follows at No.12,

Davido returns at No.16 with “If,” another smash hit that defined his artistry.
Tiwa Savage’s “All Over” is ranked No.17, cementing her as one of Afrobeats’ most influential queens.
At No.18, Ghana’s Fuse ODG appears with his global hit “Azonto” featuring Itz Tiffany, while Sarkodie’s “Adonai” featuring Castro follows at No.19.
Finally, Yemi Alade’s “Johnny” closes out the Top 20.
This ranking showcases the rich tapestry of Afrobeats across decades.
