Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke, has ignited a heated conversation online after stating that a single mother cannot raise a boy into a “proper man.”
Speaking in an interview with Okay 101.7 FM in Accra, Ghana, the actor stressed that a woman needs the assistance of a male figure to instil discipline and balance in a boy’s upbringing.

“A woman can’t raise a man. You can’t, you’re not built for it. A single mother cannot raise a man properly,” Jim Iyke declared.
He emphasised that boys require a male role model to learn discipline and masculinity
He suggesting that single mothers should involve trustworthy men such as brothers, fathers, or mentors in raising their sons.
According to him, women are naturally built to nurture and love, but this alone may not equip a boy with the resilience needed to face life’s challenges.
“What you’re going to raise is a very weak man. He is going to be everything like the men that left you. You need somebody that would discipline him, tell him ‘No’ as often times as possible, and put him in the grind,” he added.
His comments have stirred mixed reactions.

Some agrees that children, especially boys, need father figures, while others criticised his remarks as dismissive of the sacrifices and strength of single mothers.
