Veteran Afrobeats singer Jaywon has stirred controversy after criticising Grammy-nominated artiste Ayra Starr over her choice of outfits.
The singer’s comment came after a fan on X (formerly Twitter) shared a picture of Ayra Starr dressed in a tiny blue bra that revealed part of her cleavage.
Also, the fan asked for Jaywon’s opinion on what many online have repeatedly tagged as “indecent dressing.”
In response, Jaywon wrote: “She no get mama and papa?”
This is a remark that instantly ignited debate on social media.
While some agreed with his stance and argued that celebrities like Ayra Starr should be more mindful of their image, others slammed him for meddling in her personal life and attempting to police her fashion choices.
Ayra Starr is known for her bold and daring style, has often faced backlash for her outfits.
Critics have consistently accused her of dressing “provocatively,” but the singer has remained unapologetic.
She insisted that her style is part of her self-expression as an artiste.
It is worth noting that the “Bloody Samaritan” crooner lost her father at a young age and was raised by her mother, a fact that some fans pointed out in defence against Jaywon’s comment.
