Afrobeats artiste Fido has accused his former record label and management of withholding the majority of his advance payment and stalling his career.

In an radio interview, Fido claimed that out of a $20,000 advance, he received only about ₦1.5 million (roughly $1,000+), alleging that the team kept 95% of the funds.
“I was transparent with them even when I was still with them, but they took all my advance from me… they gave me just ₦1.5 million out of $20,000,” he said, insisting there is evidence to back his claims.
The interviewer suggested that the matter could be resolved through legal intervention, especially since Fido’s contract has already been terminated.
They proposed involving his current partners at Empire and other industry stakeholders to move forward with his projects and recover from the setback.
Fido revealed that the behind-the-scenes disputes quietly slowed his career, despite public speculation.
“People never knew what I was facing. They just thought, ‘Ah, this boy, this…’ But they never knew the battles behind the scenes,” he added.
