Music executive Ubi Franklin has strongly denied allegations that he stole a luxury wristwatch while in Miami, USA, for Davido’s wedding over the weekend.

The rumours began circulating on social media on Wednesday after a blog report linked Franklin to the alleged theft.

Taking to his X (formerly Twitter) account, Franklin set the record straight.

He calls the claims “completely false and misleading.”

I am aware of the recent rumours linking my name to an alleged theft. I want to make it clear these allegations are false. I just returned from my dear friend’s wedding and am now preparing for my sister’s funeral this weekend. It’s a difficult time for my family, but I must address this directly,” he wrote.

According to Franklin, while in Miami, an individual named Benny approached him to sell a wristwatch.

After reviewing the watch and confirming its previous ownership, he declined the purchase to avoid any complications.

However, during the wedding service, Benny sent another wristwatch through his brother, one Ubi Franklin claims he purchased and paid for in full.

Given the busy circumstances of the wedding, I had both watches in my possession and wore the one I bought. After the event, I left Miami immediately to prepare for my sister’s funeral. While airborne, Benny contacted me about the other watch,” Franklin explained.

Ubi Franklin stressed:

I am not a thief. I have never stolen from anyone. I bought a wristwatch from Benny and paid in full. Benny himself debunked the theft rumour earlier in the day, yet it kept spreading.”
