Sudan forward Abdel Raouf Yagoub has thrown shade at the home-based Super Eagles after their crushing 4-0 loss in the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) Group B encounter.
Kwesi Appiah’s Sudanese side dominated Nigeria at the Amman Stadium in Zanzibar on Tuesday night, August 12, 2025 exposing major flaws in the Nigerian squad.

The scoring began in the 25th minute when Yagoub’s effort deflected off Leonard Ngenege into the net. Walieldin Khdir doubled the lead from the penalty spot just before halftime. Yagoub then struck twice in the second half to seal the emphatic win.
After the match, Yagoub openly criticised Nigeria’s display, saying, “They are very slow on the ball and their recovery rate is very poor.
That’s what we capitalised on. Their defence made a lot of mistakes, their strikers are slow, and when our coach said all we needed was quick contact play and to get the ball into the 18, we executed it perfectly.”
The result moved Sudan to the top of Group D with four points from three matches. They now prepare for their final group-stage match against defending champions Senegal, where a draw will be enough to secure a quarter-final spot.
