Buhari landing at Maiduguri

 

PRESIDENT Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday paid a surprised visit to Borno State from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, where he attended the The 33rd Session of African Union, AU, Summit.

The surprised visit to Maiduguri, Borno State was to commiserate with Governor Babagana Zulum and the people of the State over the recent attack of Auno Town within the Damaturu–Maiduguri highway of the State.

Boko Haram recently murdered about 30 persons, kidnapped children and women, burnt many vehicles and destroyed many houses.

President Buhari, aboard the Presidential jet from Addis Ababa landed in Maiduguri at about 12:45pm.

 

According to the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, “He is paying a sympathy visit to the government and people of Borno following the recent horrific incident in which Boko Haram terrorists killed several travelers.”

The President is expected in Abuja to join in the ongoing Federal Executive Council, FEC, being presided over by the Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo at the Council Chamber, Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The FEC meeting which started with the observation of a minute silence for the brutal killing of the innocent persons by the insurgents in Borno State was poorly attended by the cabinet members.
