The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KSCPC) says it confiscated over 1,200 substandard tricycle tyres in the state.

The managing director of the council, Abubakar Ali-Muhammad, disclosed this in a statement issued by the spokesman, Musbahu Yakasai for the council, in Kano on Thursday.

He revealed that the council got secret information about the substandard tyres and immediately launched an investigation and uncovered the place where it was being sold.

“Following an operation at a warehouse located in a Rice Mill Company at Kuyan Ta Inna in Kumbotso Local Government area where the tyres were stored and sold to tricycle owners and riders at a very low price in the state, we raided the area,” the statement read.

Ali-Muhammad urged tricycle owners and riders to ensure that they buy and use standard spare parts for their tricyclest ensure that the lives of their passengers are not put at stake.

He also called implored Kano residents to be volunteers of KSCPC in order to achieve the set objectives.

He thanked the Governor for the opportunity given to him to fight fake products in the state and promised to continue to do so.
