Ojude Oba started as a simple visit to the king’s palace by Muslim converts to say thank you.

The festival takes place on the third day after the Muslim festival Eid-el-Kabir (Ileya).

To say thank you, they started visiting him after Eid  and that’s how Ojude Oba began.

They wear matching clothes, dance, and compete to shine the most.

Families known as Baloguns come out in full royal style — riding decorated horses, with drummers and gun salutes. It’s a royal parade like no other!

7. The Fashion Is World-Class

From Aso Oke to Sanyan to Adire, the clothes are stunning! You’ll see people in matching outfits, gele headwraps, and agbadas that turn heads.

8. Even the Pandemic Couldn’t Stop It Forever

Ojude Oba was paused during COVID-19 (2020 and 2021) — but came back stronger, with more online views, better organisation, and global attention.

The festival helps fashion designers, food vendors, entertainers, and photographers make money. It also brings tourists to Ogun State.

10. Over 100 Million People Are Expected in 2025
